Site: Greenhill Road (click image to enlarge)
Requirements: Could start building tomorrow
What’s good about it:
- HUGE parcel of land
- Could provide ‘MCG’ feel to the park
- Surrounded by major road (Greenhill Rd)
- Nobody ever sets foot in most parts of the park and the Council at present is not watering a large parcel of it
- It is an opportunity to open this end of town to more activities
- Tram running adjacent
- Site is remote and at an end of town without major pre/post event opportunities
- May be better developed as a park and not a ‘stadium park’
An ‘optimal’ site in terms of it being converted to better use than is presently being experienced. Perhaps not an ‘optimal’ site in terms of a stadium seeking to stimulate economic activity pre/post event.

I dont think that this is too remote. Gouger street isnt too far away plus you have the Elephant and Castle, The Gilbert and another on Gilbert st which I cant remember the name of, The Brecknock, Kings Head, Crown and Sceptor etc all within a short walk of the proposed area. Parking on the old netball courts (which I dont think get used anymore?? Correct me if I am wrong..)is another bonus. Good arterial roads to and from plus tram and train transport close by.
Any thoughts??
